Serenity in Stokey

Bob was feeling a bit under the weather today, so we decided to stick close to home and have a rather lazy Saturday. We walked up to Church Street to have a peek at the weekly Stoke Newington Farmers' Market, where some parsnips were enjoying themselves:
It was a rather perfect February day, with the sun taking the chill off the recently much cooler air, and after we left the market, we walked through some parts of Abney Park Cemetery that neither of us think we've been in before (have I mentioned that it's a 32-acre space?), judging from some of the artistic gravestones that caught our attention as we walked.

Some of the gravestones have the most amazing textures that simulate nature:

There were several military stones that we've never seen before, and Bob noticed that this Somerset Light Infantry private died on 12 November 1918, the day after WWI ended.

I thought this sculpture was beautiful:
"We shall meet again":
This striking horse and horseshoe sit beside the disused chapel at the centre of Abney Park, but somehow we don't remember seeing it before.

By now, Bob was a bit tired and we were both ready for some hot drinks, so we left the serenity of Abney Park and were soon back home with the living-room radiator and a pair of steaming mugs providing the necessary ingredients for a rather cosy afternoon.
