Seaweed

Today was the first day since we got back that I ate real food, and when it came time to make supper, I realised that we were low on just about everything, so after making a list of essentials that we needed to buy tomorrow, we settled on some miso fried rice for dinner. With a liberal sprinkling of the deliciously seasoned gim (seaweed) we brought back from Korea, it was actually quite yummy!
My dad always gets irritated when people talk about "seaweed"; he thinks that the unappetising name is a terrible way to refer to something so nutritious and delicious, and I suppose he's right! After all, if vegetables like lettuce, spinach, and broccoli were referred to as "landweed," would they be as popular? Bob has proposed a new, more mellifluous name that is more suited to this tasty food . . . how about "sea flowers"?

too bad seaweed tastes like an oyster's armpit. if the name was changed to "seaflowers" i would instantly file a class action suit for fraud on behalf of every awesome flower in the world.

believe it.

oh, c'mon angus. (er, i mean "jimmy.") i love whole oysters, so i guess i find their "armpits" as tasty as the rest of them! actually, i swear this is true: before i even read your comment, this morning bob talked about how "armpit" is a terrible word and he's also proposed a replacement: "shoulder-neath." :-)
