Our Vancouver Visit: Jang Mo Jib

Well, we realize that our Vancouver activities are getting pretty predictable, but we lived next to Stanley Park because we love it there, so I guess it makes sense that we're spending a lot of time close to our old home!
We saw a few herons by the seawall again
and decided to wander over to their nesting area to see the annual appearance of nests.

The noisy squawking of the chicks wasn't quite at its most frantic, but it was still loud enough to alarm passers-by who weren't aware that they were walking through the herons' nesting area. A few remnants of recent hatchings had been picked up from the ground and placed on posts under the trees.
We stayed for a while and watched herons leave their nests, return with food, feed their babies, and then leave again in search of more food. After our necks had all they could take of looking up, we wandered back to the seawall.

The rock-balancing guy had been out today, as he is most days,
and the banks of English Bay were filled with people lounging in the early-evening sun.
Tonight we took a sushi break and went to a place that had apparently been waiting for us just as we had been waiting for it!
Jang Mo Jib ("mother-in-law's house") is the best Korean restaurant we've found in Vancouver, and a whole lot closer to our old apartment than the restaurants of New Malden are to our London flat. We had seconds of our banchan side dishes
and both had dolsot bibimbap. Here it is in its unmixed form,
and here it is after being mixed with a nice amount of gochujang (hot red pepper miso paste). This photo is of my bibimbap; Bob likes a crazy amount of gochujang, so his bibimbap is usually a whole lot more red than mine!
